The luxurious building is a well preserved example of Dutch colonial architecture, where teakwood beams span the high ceilings of the rooms and the checkered black & white tiles reflect the soft light of the crystal chandeliers. After the World War II, the building became the official residence of the United States Naval Attaché. The annual Marine Corps Balls were held in this beautiful house and garden.

In 1979, Oasis Restaurant introduced the Rijsttafel (Rice Table), a unique presentation of a variety of Indonesian food, served by a procession of twelve Indonesian waitresses. The Rijsttafel culinary cultural parade is an authentic gastronomic experience that one will not soon forget. Oasis Heritage Restaurant also serves a selection of popular European dishes that will satisfy even the most discerning guest.
